The farmers of Khasbahal and Dohelpada Panchayats of Nuapada district, under the banner of Khasbahal-Dohelpada Krushak Sangathan, blocked the Khariar-Bhawanipatna road on Friday from 6 am to 2 pm, protesting against denial of crop insurance money and delay in payment of input subsidy for loss of Kharif crop last year. "Thousands of farmers of our Panchayats had deposited premium to insure their crops in 2018. The crops failed miserably, but the insurance company has not paid the compensation," rued the farmers. "The Government is in agreement with the insurance company to cheat the farmers; that is why, the loss has been shown very minimal," they said. Blaming the Government, the agitators further stated that the farmers have incurred total loss last year in agriculture due to irregularities in the rainfall, but the Government has not submitted the actual report to the insurance company.
