NHRC seeks ATR from Nalgonda DM, SP
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has sought an Action Taken Report (ATR) from the Collector and SP of Nalgonda district of Telangana, regarding engagement of a minor boy of Odisha in a brick kiln and keeping him hostage.

Dash alleged the 14-year-old victim Ballav Harijan alias Deep (from SC Community) of Dedenga village of Komna Police limits area in Nuapada district had been kept hostage at brick kiln of Nabad Enkena in Cherlapali village of Nalgonda district in Telangana since 20 days and the brick kiln owner Nabad Enkena demanded Rs 2 lakh to release the boy.
Ballabh went to the brick kiln along with his elder sister Jamini and her husband Jaga to take care of a baby of the couple. As the couple fled from the kiln, the kiln owner kept Ballava in hostage. In a complaint submitted to the Collector and Labour Officer of Nuapada, the couple had claimed that the employer demanded Rs 2 lakh for releasing the boy.
Dash had prayed to the commission to direct the Telangana Government to immediately arrest the brick kiln owner and release Ballava and pay compensation as provisioned under law.
He had also requested the Commission to direct the Odisha Labour Commissioner and Nuapada SP to immediately arrest the broker Shabir Mohammed of Suklimundi village in Nuapada district for his crime of trafficking the SC community people,
Considering the case, the commission has directed the Nalgonda district Collector and the Superintendent of Police, for submitting a report in the matter within four weeks, otherwise it would be forced to take coercive action
